8 Things You can do to make Everyday Mother's day

Mother's day is a day for you to show your love to the woman who gave birth to you. Of course, this is also the same person who nurtured you, fed you, guided you when you took your first steps. She told you to pack your bag every night before you go to school, helped to sew that loose button, showed you how to wear make-up, held you when you first cried over that boy and told you you're worth more than the pain he caused.

So this is why i think we can and should show our love for this remarkable and amazing woman in our life, not just on mother's day, but every chance we get. I know that we want to do something special, like go for a fancy meal, or buy a limited edition cake, or get her a bouquet of flowers, but i think the little things we can do everyday can also help make our mothers feel like every day is mother's day.  And these are the 8 things i strive to do regularly to show my mum i truly love her, which you might want to try too:

1. WATCH HER FAVOURITE DRAMA WITH HER
My mum cannot get enough of Malaysian dramas. She watches every drama on every channel every chance she gets. So maybe i can spare some time to watch one episode with her? Or you can take her out for a sappy movie. Or if she is into action movies, by all means!

2. GO SHOPPING WITH HER
Seriously, even though my mum hates walking around. One way is to suggest a day to get just one item from one store and go to that store with her. Your company matters more than you know.

3. DO LAUNDRY TOGETHER
We divide and conquer in my house. My mum would wash (well put the clothes in the machine), my sister would hang the clothes and i would fold them. Well, when i am not tired from work at least. It may not seem like much, but your effort really counts.

4. BUY HER FAVOURITE SNACK
After a long hard day of work we just want to munch on something light sometimes. I prefer chips and cheesy snacks but my mum is forever team tapioca chips. So sometimes i would put that in the bag too. It's hilarious how this delights my mum. Snacks are the way to a woman's smile! Or food really. Which also means you should...

5. BUY HER FAVOURITE DISH
Ok, do make sure she hasn't cooked anything. Coz mums are pretty big on not wasting food, especially not food they cooked. So go ahead and order in your mum's favourite zinger or ayam penyet rice on that friday night when she's too tired to cook.

6. GET A FACIAL
You can either just buy a dozen masks and just rest with your mum at home, or take her to a nice spa with a free facial. Bring your mum along when you wanna pamper yourself!

7. MASSAGES
Honestly, if you cannot afford  one, you can always get some massage oil and do it yourself! Or just sit next to your mum and lightly massage her shoulders. You dont know what a relief this is for that long day your mum had!

8. MAKE HER A CUP OF TEA/COFFEE/MILO
The next time you're making a cuppa for yourself, throw one in for your mum as well. Sometimes when we feel down, what we want is a nice cup of tea/coffee/milo and the magnitude of our problems would lessen. Imagine handing that cup to your mum. Wouldn't that make her feel better?

Flowers, cakes and a brand new bag might scream mother's day, but it is our little actions on every other day that makes our mums even more grateful and gratified. So why not make every day mother's day right? It is the small actions that can make a bigger difference than we can ever imagine.
